How does Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture work?
The goal to facilitate a more youthful appearance for you is
accomplished in two ways: by improving the balance of Qi in your body
and by bringing more Qi to your face. Cosmetic acupuncture addresses
the internal causes of aging as well as reducing its outward signs.
Following the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, your
practitioner uses acupuncture needles to access, manipulate, tonify and
balance your body's Qi (or energy). Qi travels through your body along
pathways called meridians or channels. Very fine needles are inserted
into acupuncture points on your body as well as on your face. The body
points chosen will vary from person to person because everyone is
unique with differing body types, constitutions and imbalances. This
makes the treatment specific to each patient and is the part of the
protocol which enhances general health. Everybody receives the same
points on the face which makes this the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture
System, a specialized technique to slow and soften the signs of aging on
the face.
The modern scientific rationale for how Mei Zen works.
Inserting the needles into the skin causes little micro-traumas that
stimulate your body's wound healing process. This process balances out
the dispersal of collagen by encouraging fibroblasts (cells that form
collagen and elastin fibers) to migrate to the needling sites and lay down
new collagen fibers making your skin more collagen and elastin rich.
New younger looking firmer skin is the result. The needles also
stimulate blood circulation which improves color and encourages dead
skin cells to slough at a faster rate. The face lifts due to the muscles'
revitalizing and tightening action that occurs with acupuncture.
